The Vintage Fashion Salon: Welcome to the Vintage Fashion Salon! If you've attended any events sponsored by the Art Deco Society of California, you know that dressing up in deco style is part of the fun, and a preservation activity in its own right. Many of our members collect vintage fashion; others sew replicas, or study the grooming and etiquette of the era. The Salon will be a repository of advice for those desiring to re-create the "look" of the Art Deco era -- the 1920s, 1930s, and early 1940s. Deco Q&A: We'll also post questions and answers from our panel of experts. You may submit a question to our resident authors, Derek Kerr and Maria Rivero, authors of ADSC's Vintage Fashion Guide. Vintage Shoppers Guidebook:
THE VINTAGE SHOPPER'S GUIDEBOOK: In this eminently handy guidebook (purse or glovebox-sized), Derek Kerr and Maria Rivero of the ADSC answer the perennial question, "Where do you find vintage clothing?" with enormous thoroughness, helpfulness and wit. Their reviews of about 60 stores (in San Francisco, East Bay, North Bay & South Bay) include detailed notes on each shop's ambiance, strengths and range of merchandise, as well as all the pragmatics: hours, prices, parking advice, even the number of dressing rooms. Clever suggestions for where to go afterwards will help you round out your shopping excursions into Deco adventures!
