The Art Deco Society of California ("ADSC") is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information that you provide to us when visiting the ADSC website. This Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information received about you when you visit or subscribe to our services.

We may make content or services explicitly linked from other Web sites including affiliated or co-branded Web sites available to you. These other Web sites are not subject to this Privacy Policy. We recommend that you review the privacy policy at each such Web site to determine how that site protects your privacy.

Information We Collect

General:
When you register, and at other times, we will collect personally identifiable information from you that may include your name, address, e-mail address, and facts about your computers, profession and similar information. We do not, however, knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen.

Surveys:
We may conduct occasional online surveys utilizing website forms or distributed via e-mail. These surveys are entirely voluntary and you may easily decline to participate.

Feedback or Comments:
We may collect personal information if you provide it in feedback or comments, post it on our classifieds or interactive forums, or if you contact us directly. Please do not post any personal information on ADSC's forums or classifieds that you expect to keep private.

Credit Card Transactions:
ADSC does not currently have any online facility for accepting credit card transactions. All credit card transactions (memberships, event registration fees, boutique items, etc.) are managed manually by employees or designated agents of the ADSC. We endeavor to protect the security of your payment information by utilizing the equipment and procedures provided to us by our credit card processing company.

Web Site Usage Information:
We automatically collect IP addresses and Web site usage information from you when you visit our website. This information helps us evaluate how our visitors and subscribers use and navigate our Web sites, including the number and frequency of visitors and subscribers to each Web page, and the length of their visits. Web logs also help us to diagnose problems with our server, to administer the ADSC site, and to otherwise provide our service to you.

How We Use Information Collected

Circumstances in which ADSC may release information

  • We may disclose and use personally identifiable information in special circumstances where it is necessary to enforce our subscriber policies or Terms of Use (for example, when necessary to protect our intellectual property rights).
  • ADSC may disclose information about its users if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process.

Discussions

The Forum section of our website provides you with an opportunity to tell us what you think and read what other readers have to say. When you use our Forums features (e.g., by posting a message on our message boards), we may make public any information that you provide including your name, location and e-mail address.

Data we store

  • All classified and forum postings are stored in our database, even after "deletion," and may be archived elsewhere.
  • Our web logs and other records are stored indefinitely.
  • Registered Classified Ad posters can access and update their account information by logging in their account through the welcome page of the Classified Ads section of the website.
  • The ADSC utilizes a third-party email management company, Topica, to host and manage all aspects of our user opt-in subscription service. As such, Topica's privacy policy and service terms of use also apply as applicable. Subscribers to our announcement service can manage their subscriptions through the link that appears on the bottom of the e-mail message or by contacting the ADSC webmaster for assistance.
  • ADSC also maintains e-mail list(s) separate from the Topica service that includes the e-mail address of current and past members of the ADSC, affiliates, and attendees to events. Subscribers can manage their subscriptions by contacting the ADSC webmaster for assistance.
  • Although we make good faith efforts to store the information in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, we cannot guarantee complete security.
  • Archiving and display of ADSC postings by search engines and other sites Search engines and other sites not affiliated with ADSC may archive or otherwise make available ADSC postings.

Your Ability to Choose

We offer you the opportunity to choose whether to receive certain communications from us at the time you give us your personally identifiable information. You may also update your information preferences by clicking the "Update Profile" link in our e-mail communications, after which you will receive an e-mail message with instructions.

Cookies and Web Beacons

We employ cookie technology. A cookie is a small file that is sent to your computer by a site's server. A cookie can be a record of your visit to a site, including information such as your username, registration information, time of last visit, pages viewed, etc. A cookie created by one site's servers can be retrieved only by that site's servers. We use web beacons (invisible images often referred to as pixel tags or clear GIFs) on our site in order to recognize users and assess traffic patterns. We also include Web beacons in our e-mail messages including newsletters in order to count how many e-mail messages have been opened.

Ads for ADSC

When you view an ad for ADSC on other sites, our third-party advertising company may place or recognize a unique cookie on your browser. ADSC and our advertising company may also use Web beacons (invisible images often referred to as pixel tags or clear GIFs) to note which website pages you visit after viewing our ads. The information that is collected through the use of these images is not personally identifiable and is used only to track response to our advertising efforts.

Security

The personally identifiable information we collect about you is stored in limited-access servers. We will maintain safeguards to protect the security of these servers and your personally identifiable information.

Review and Correction

You may review and update the personally identifiable information/registration information that you have provided to us by by clicking the "Update Profile" link in our e-mail communications, after which you will receive an e-mail message with instructions.

Policy Modifications

We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes here, so be sure to check back periodically.

International Users - Transfer to U.S. or Other Countries

By visiting our web site and providing us with data, you acknowledge and agree that due to the international dimension of ADSC we may use the data collected in the course of our relationship for the purposes identified in this policy or in our other communications with you, including the transmission of information outside your resident jurisdiction.
