Remember that you're part of a Vaudeville theater audience that includes dressed-up middle and working-class folks as well as slumming upper-class swells, so don't get TOO fancy -- simpler is better if you have a choice. White shirts are completely acceptable, but if you have choices, try to avoid either black, navy, or pure white for any other clothes. In high-contrast black-and-white, midtones and patterns look the best (for example, we love plaid, houndstooth, and herringbone). Also know that we're going to see you mostly from the waist up. Call is Sunday, January 31st at 4:30 sharp, shoot from 5pm to 6:30pm. Must be available entire two hours. No young children. The Victoria Theater, located at 2961 16th Street San Francisco, CA 94103 is merely steps away from the 16th Mission BART. This shoot's gonna be the bees knees, and you'll be immortalized in silent cinema! If you have any urgent questions, please contact Bree: bree_hylkema (at) yahoo.com Thanks much.

Rio Carnaval 1940Miss Art Deco Eva Garcia and Miss Jeanavive Marie Janssen Welcome You Our scene is set in the late 1940s, amongst conflicts and police prohibitions, when the rich retreated into secluded Club events. It was a time when the Rio Samba founds its way onto the international scene . . . when singing star Carmen Miranda captivated Hollywood with her hips and hats, and Donald Duck learned to samba with the parrot Zé Carioca. Start off mingling over drinks in the Presidential Lounge at 3pm followed by dinner and entertainment – burlesque, music by Sara Klotz de Aguilar and DJ Tom LG – with dancing. Then…an afterhours speakeasy with vinyl music, pool & poker. Special Hotel Room Rates of $89 are available at Hayes. For event information and Registration, visit:

Join the Hunt to Save the Fox!The Art Deco Society of California has committed to raise $2,500 to help the Oakland Fox Theater pay down their bills. Now is the time we become a fundraising organization instead of cheering from the sidelines. The economy has slowed down and makes money tight for everyone, including non profits. So please dig deep with a tax-deductable donation and help us help our neighbors. Keep your eye on the Fox-O-Meter, every $100 turns a fox red as we get closer to our goal of $2,500. With this commitment the ADSC gets a lovely brass plaque at the Fox Theater site. You may donate any amount you like using PayPal or a check, made out to:
